Our 25th Anniversary Season!

Welcome to the 25th Anniversary Season of the Lanier Chamber Singers! Join us as we celebrate our amazing history and look to the future.

Last year we took a leap of faith and expanded our season to three concerts so that we could celebrate the holiday season with our Christmas with Lanier Singers concert and present a fall program as well. We hope that you enjoyed this expanded season and will support our organization as we continue to grow.

Last fall, we went way out of the box and presented our first-ever multimedia experience with Parachoral Activity. We had a blast dressing up in costume and singing spooky music for you with the slideshow. If you missed it, you can find photos on our Facebook page or on our Instagram @laniersingers.

In December, we were excited to partner with a small group of chamber players and present the classic Vivaldi’s Gloria for you. One of the highlights of the concert was Ola Gjielo’s Serenity with cello. We also partnered with a new community group, the Lanier Young Singers.

Last spring, we presented an ambitious program of music around the four classical elements in Elementum. We even got to have a Skype coaching session on a new piece by Jake Runestad, “The Peace of Wild Things.”

We are very excited to continue to grow and celebrate our 25th season! Join us for these upcoming concerts:

Last year, we celebrated Halloween with our Parachoral Activity concert, and this year we will look at the holiday of All-Saints as well as the wonderful repertoire of French music. Our concert will feature Gabriel Fauré’s classic masterwork, Requiem, and the beautiful “Cantique de Jean Racine” with a small chamber orchestra. We’ll also present some shorter pieces by Ravel, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, and Janequin. Join us for A Fauré Foray on Friday, October 28th at 7:30pm and Saturday, October 29th at 4:00pm at First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville.

We’ll only have one performance of our Christmas program this year, so be sure you don’t miss it! On Friday, December 3rd, at 7:30pm, we’ll kick off the holiday season with a standard LCS mix of beautiful choral classics and fun carol arrangements. We hope you’ll join us for this concert at First Presbyterian, Gainesville.

Our most exciting concert of the year is our 25th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, February 18th at 7:30pm. We’ll be returning to the wonderful acoustic of Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville and will present a program of greatest hits from the last 25 years of Lanier Chamber Singers. We’ll be doing a reception after the concert, and will also have special guest conductors from our LCS history. You can even vote on the pieces that we’ll sing! Go to lanierchambersingers.org/vote and choose your favorite pieces from all our concerts.

Our spring concert, entitled I Hear America Singing after the Walt Whitman poem, will be an all-American program featuring works by great composers of our country like William Billings, Samuel Barber, Morten Lauridsen, Randall Thompson, and Leonard Bernstein. Join us Friday, April 21st at 7:30pm and Saturday, April 22nd at 4:00pm at First Presbyterian, Gainesville for some great “varied carols” from our nation’s history.

Tickets for our special 25th Anniversary Celebration are $25 at the door and just $20 in advance. All our concerts are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors at the door, and $10 in advance! You can also get advance tickets from one of our singers or on lanierchambersingers.org. As always, students and children are free at our regular concerts and just $10 at our 25th Anniversary Celebration- a wonderful chance to inspire our youth with beautiful, enriching music.

We hope that you will become a part of our music-making in whatever way you can. Your generous donations help us to cover our numerous costs, from sheet music to space rental, and your presence at our concerts makes all the hard work we do worthwhile. We especially need your support to continue to do special programs with orchestra and events like our 25th Anniversary Celebration.

We ask that you do your part to keep quality classical music thriving in North Georgia. We hope that you will come share in this art form that we love, and we look forward to singing for you!
